After a whole day long struggle on 2004 June 28, finally Liao W. C. (Liao) and Chang C. H. (Chang) successfully passed the oral examination. Liao is focusing on the subject of AFM (Atomic Force Microscopic), a recent production of Nano Technology, with the traditional cantilever beam plus a nano-scaled probe. Liao used the proved large deflection theory and worked it upon AFM, and he finally concluded its own theory. Not only the complicated equations, but also the Taylor series expansions are both extremely made us impressive and admirable.

Before the time, Liao was totally absorbed and addicted to figuring out his research, There's always slight depression on his face during those period, though we're running out of time; equations are really the matters. He eventually erased all assumptions and revised the formula;  thus, the simple formula become long and difficult , yet for him is quite easy to answer and apply this to AFM. We are actually convinced with his outstanding ability of managing this case.

Comparatively, Chang seems to be much casual and carefree. In fact, he's so-called a genius, though he's ever been flunked, English idiot, talks with "piecewise continuum thought" and we scarcely known each time of his reporting, yet you'll find he's clever and wise enough if been close with him for a while.

The graduation dissertation of Chang is analysis of silicon germanium structure. He clarified each details of his research during the oral examination; surprisingly, I found out that I could get through all of that! He must have practiced his eloquence as well as prepared for his research; therefore, he deserved our praise and his achievement.

Evening is coming, the slight breeze and clear cloud bring the breath of summer which makes me feel asleep. Twilight at sunset pierced through the gap of pines, and reflected irregularly to the surface of lake. I carefully padded along the bank of this lake for not ruining the peace; the wind brings some ripples on the lake; companied with harmonious warbles. An egret unexpectedly flies through the lake, like a fancy that never been true.

I therefore sat on a bench and closed my eyes to memorize the occurrence for this whole year. Liao's patience and Chang's wisdom seem to have rewards in this summertime; their effort won them the affirmation; especially, they've toiled day and night for the last month. Eventually, their effort acquired brilliant reward.

In addition, with their contribution for our laboratory, I'm truly believe that our team members will become much independent & stronger, the future seems to coming sooner..

I've just back up to my mind from that beautiful vision, and caught a glimpse of my reflection in the water, what exactly it would look like for expecting something?
